Greetings Moonbow Friends!

Here’s what I have been musing about lately…

Tuesday, February 5th was the first day of the Chinese New Year. The year 2019 rings in the Year of the Pig. As I read about and contemplated the “blessons” (blessings + lessons) for the Pig Year, I definitely had moments of jumping with joy, like Wilbur when Charlotte spun, “Some Pig” in her web.

December Do's - Rest Up and Keep Up with the Season!

December Do's - Rest Up and Keep Up with the Season!

Greetings Moonbow Friends!

Here’s what I have been musing about lately….

Well, here we are… the last month of the year. At times, I feel like I just sat down for my New Year’s Day meditation, contemplating what 2018 had in store. Yet when I allow for a longer pause to fully reflect on my year, I recognize just how much has been packed into 2018 – great memories, a few stumbles, several travel adventures, and a deeper sense of personal purpose and service. And lucky me – there are still 19 days left in the year to savor and enjoy!

My goal for the rest of 2018 is to commit myself to really “walk the talk” and “do as I teach”. In my yoga classes, I advocate for More Rest, Less Stress and encourage the art of slowing down. Setting an intention to mindfully slow down will also help as I gear up for end of year holiday festivities with friends and family. I’m all in to keep it the season of JOY, and not the season of frazzled and fatigued. Who else is ready to savor the rest of 2018?

November brings something New

November brings something New

Greetings Moonbow Friends!

Here’s what I have been musing about lately….

November is here and it has arrived with the energy of new beginnings! I kicked off the month celebrating my 43rd cycle around the sun. I am excited for all the new opportunities and projects on the horizon, which include me starting the 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Yoga on High in Columbus, Ohio. In 1999, I graduated from the Ohio State University, so it seems fitting that 20 years later I am returning to Buckeye land to deepen my yogic studies so I may be of better service and care to my students and mySELF.  In the sky, a new moon cycle is taking form today, and the timing is appropriate as this past weekend my 2018 Moonbow Yoga Teacher Training program came to an end. The 10 graduates are now boosted with lunar support, as they begin a new chapter in their lives and put into motion their authentic passions for teaching yoga.

Music Feeds the Soul - Eat it Up!

Music Feeds the Soul - Eat it Up!

Greetings Moonbow Friends!

Here’s what I have been musing about lately….

As my husband prepares for a trip to Hampton, Virginia to attend three nights of Phish shows, I have the power of music on my mind. Music has always been a keystone in my life. I appreciate how music provides a level of emotional articulation, as I fall into a rhythm, get inspired by lyrics, or dial into a mood –uplifted, energized, relaxed, sad, mellow, content, loving, free. Through music, I can tap into the past and feel into the present moment. Like constellations in the sky, music connects the dots to colorful memories in my life.

Unlock Life's Obstacles with 4 Keys

Unlock Life's Obstacles with 4 Keys

Greetings Moonbow Friends!

Here’s what I have been musing about lately….

During the Autumn season the Air Element is increasing. We may find that some experiences during the day get us caught up in a swirl of emotions, like a pile of fallen leaves picked up by the wind. You may notice this while listening to the news, scrolling on social media, interacting with others, or focusing on negative mind-chatter. You may observe how some events spark old memories that you “thought” were packed up and tucked away in the vault - similar to an autumn leaf hidden up on a high branch. Yet, with a gust of wind, the leaf is released into the breeze and lands at your feet, now offering you an opportunity to really see THAT leaf. Old memories - like the leaf- are brought to light in the present moment and may prompt a positive, negative, or indifferent response. When I feel tested by old memories or I am triggered by an interaction with someone else, I lean strongly into the heart of my yoga practice. This doesn’t mean I instantly bust into some strong arm balance or 108 sun salutations (although moving my body always makes me feel better!) - rather I lean into the motivating introspective practices that remind me how best to treat others and myself in times of challenge and suffering.

Kindness is Key: An Irish Perspective

Kindness is Key: An Irish Perspective

Greetings Moonbow Friends!

Here’s what I have been musing about lately…

On Sunday, I went to a lovely picnic at Jack Roberts Park in Morgantown. Autumn was in the air and the food was plentiful. With all the good stuff, the picnic was bittersweet - not the chocolate desserts, but the reason for gathering. You see, the event was a going-away party for someone special - Lisa Hynes. Next week, she leaves Morgantown for new adventures, and then at the end of 2018, she returns to her homeland - Ireland. For almost two years, I have had the wonderful opportunity to know Lisa as a yoga student, yoga teacher trainee, co-teacher, and friend. She is one of the main inspirations behind me choosing Ireland as the location for my 2019 Kindness is Key - Yoga Retreat. Although Lisa is starting a new chapter, I am grateful that our paths will continue to merge - from the Mountain State of West Virginia to the breath-taking cliffs and countrysides of Ireland. Lisa was recently in Ireland for a brief visit, so I invited her to share some pictures and words about her homeland and yoga. Read on and enjoy her delightful musings!

Thank You Yoga - Celebrating National Yoga Month!

Thank You Yoga - Celebrating National Yoga Month!

Here’s what I have been musing about lately…

September is National Yoga Month, so the time is prime to celebrate what calls you to the practice of yoga. Through our yoga, we can breathe, move, feel, flow, and better navigate the fluidity of balancing our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Overtime, we may start to recognize that our “yoga mat” is so much more than the one we unroll for an asana practice. Our real yoga mat is the world around us and within us. In this way, yoga is not just something we do periodically, rather yoga offers the skills and awareness to live each moment with more focus, purpose, and joy.

Greetings & Welcome to the NEW Moonbow Musing Blog!

Here’s what I have been musing about lately…

Today we welcome a new moon in the sky, and many friends are celebrating Rosh Hashanah to ring in the Jewish New Year. When entering a "New" phase, we are naturally in the flow of transition as we say good-bye to the old and hello to the new. Riding through transitions with steadiness and ease is not always simple, because we are often hard-wired into fearing or resisting change. After all, there is comfort in knowing what to expect. When we look to the rhythm of nature, annual holidays, or to lunar cycles, we can also be comforted in knowing that change is constant. What this teaches me is the importance of patience and trusting that I can sustain the changes of my life, just as I know the moon will shape-shift over 28 days , or if I just wait 5 minutes, the weather will change.
