Thank You Yoga - Celebrating National Yoga Month!


Greetings Moonbow Friends!

Here’s what I have been musing about lately…

September is National Yoga Month, so the time is prime to celebrate what calls you to the practice of yoga. Through our yoga, we can breathe, move, feel, flow, and better navigate the fluidity of balancing our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Overtime, we may start to recognize that our “yoga mat” is so much more than the one we unroll for an asana practice. Our real yoga mat is the world around us and within us. In this way, yoga is not just something we do periodically, rather yoga offers the skills and awareness to live each moment with more focus, purpose, and joy.

I was first introduced to yoga during a high school gym class, and at the time I wasn’t able to fully articulate why I loved the experience, but it definitely triggered a sincere response. Upon deeper reflection and over 20 years of practicing yoga, I now better understand that what my first yoga experience whispered within me was that “I am enough.”  

In honor of National Yoga Month, I celebrate the many ways that message can be rekindled in myself and the ways I can support others to feel and hear it, too.

The full spectrum of YOGA is like Mary Poppins’ bag - so many tools and practices to pull out in any given moment so you can remember I. AM. ENOUGH.

If you could pick one thing out right now, what would it be?

A pose, a mudra, an affirmation, a deep breath, a guided meditation, a page from a spiritual book?

Okay! Now, go do it!


I am enough when I take 20 breaths in headstand.
I am enough when I just rest in child’s pose.
I am enough when my Warrior postures are fierce, strong, and effortlessly challenged.
I am enough when my Inner Warrior needs to hide and cry in the face of certain fears.
I am enough when my creativity is focused and I easily complete projects... on time.
I am enough when I dabble loosely in five tasks simultaneously.
I am enough when kindness is second nature and I interact with others harmoniously.
I am enough when my patience is thin and my temper ignites.
I am enough when I do a 90 minute yoga practice.
I am enough when at bedtime I acknowledge I ignored my yoga mat all day.
Time is fleeting, all I have is this moment.
This too shall pass, this too shall pass.
I take a breath and one step forward.
I am more than enough.

A gentle supine twisting posture always seems to remind me that “I am enough”. Twists improve circulation and relieve tension in the muscles of the spine, chest and hips. Lingering on your back in a twist also helps to soothe the nervous system, cool your inner thermostat, and simply make your body go, “Ahhhhhhh, Life is Good!”
